adding some darker clouds

I think by adding the darker clouds, it added a touch more drama to design. Once it's all sewn down it will look more together, like it belongs there. The body of the plane is pinned in place to give you an idea of it's placement. It's coming along now.
Still a great deal of work to do.

A Late night work-a-thon

I worked pretty late last night trying to get the clouds settled in the idea/context I had in mind. I think this is off to a great start, and I love the way the mix of fabrics produce layers of clouds, and clouded sky. So what do you think? I'm ready for the planes. Well after I spend a few hours sewing down the cloud layers.

A new project

I have been thinking this one over in my mind for some time now and I still am not to sure where it will go, or for that matter how to do it. But!! I am going to give it my best shot.
I have this idea of doing a wall hanging for my dad who was a bombardier durning WWII. I want to create what will be a large plane { a Martin Marauder, B26} coming right out of the picture at you. But this won't be a painting. It will be "painted" in fabric, threads, a little ink pens etc. One wing tip will be on the outside of the fabric frame, which will give you the feeling it's coming right at you. There will also be 2 other ones below and behind this one, in a massive sky with clouds. I know this is very ambitious but if it turns out it will be a one of a kind and very, special.
I have collected fabrics etc and am ready to start laying them down on the base fabric. Applicate, embroidery, a little painting with pen and ink, and a touch of watercolor, should help to give it depth.
Because this is such a big project and so new to me, I decided to post how it all comes together {or not. lol} so others can be inspired to create and stretch their limits. That's how we grow and learn.
The hardest part about this was finding pictures of the B26's in flight. Then you had to get them headed in the same direction. I had a wonderful design all worked out, only to realize they were B17's, and that just was not going to work out. To many propellers, and a different shape altogether. I have spent a lot of time researching this plane, and finally got a drawing of it I liked.
I hope you can see enough of the idea, but here is where it starts.

There was no way I could do a full flight of planes as they would have been flying, just to many, and the idea here was to draw your attention to the one coming right at you.
I hope this works out, and I'm going to give it my best shot. I'll post here as I work on it, so you can see how it develops. So here it goes. B26's in flight.

For all things ending with a knotted thread

I have needed to do this for some time, so I shall begin today and so have created a knotted thread blog to carry all the overload of creative things from my other eblogs. It may take some time to move things around but I'm sure in time it will get done.
So what's on my list of to do's besides the big clean up?
I have several things in the works, and will share them with you as I go along. Starting with christmas projects! And non to soon.
